The Big Picture –
By Glynn Wilson –
WASHINGTON, D.C. — From heat wave to flooding rain, the weather in the nation’s capital does not seem normal. But of course it’s not. We are in the new era of climate change now.
Not that they believe it in the White House or on one side of the aisle in Congress.
I wonder how Donald Trump’s latest pick for the Supreme Court stands on that or if anyone in Congress will even ask?
In his dozen years on the federal appeals court that hears the most disputes over government regulatory power, Judge Brett Kavanaugh has compiled an extensive record of skepticism toward the government’s powers to act on climate change, according to this article.
What Brett Kavanaugh on Supreme Court Could Mean for Climate Regulations
“In particular, while Kavanaugh has repeatedly voiced the belief that global warming is a serious problem, he has challenged the argument that Congress has given the Environmental Protection Agency authority to do something about it.”
Unfortunately the Democrats don’t seem to have the votes to stop the Republicans from confirming Kavanaugh.
That’s what they get for changing the rules back in the Obama era.
Changing from requiring a super majority of two-thirds in the Senate to a simple majority of 51 votes to confirm presidential appointees seemed like a good idea at the time, since Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his Republican colleagues were blocking all of President Obama’s appointments.

But now they have no way to filibuster on Kavanaugh.
At least this president is being pummeled on other fronts, with both the Washington Post and the New York Times in full scale attack mode: Goodbye Donald Trump.
Washington journalism legend Bob Woodward went on CBS “Sunday Morning” and warned: “People better wake up to what’s going on” in the Oval Office.
“People who work for him are worried … that he will sign things or give orders that threaten the national security or the financial security of the country, or of the world,” Woodward said.
No kidding. We’ve been saying that for 18 months.
I had to jump from watching the rest of the Sunday news talk shows when CBS’s “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan gave Vice President Mike Pence a platform to lie on national television and NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” gave a similar platform to Trump yes woman Kellyanne Conway.
I’m wondering when we will get past the mainstream media era of “fair and balanced” news? I mean Fox News already dropped the slogan. Maybe if CBS, NBC and ABC would do the same we could run Trump out of the White House on a rail like in the old days, covered in tar and feathers.
It seems to me Bill Press has it right in his new book: Trump Must Go: The Top 100 Reasons to Dump Trump.
“If you had any doubt about it, you won’t after reading this book,” the book promo says. “Marshalling the facts and evidence, Bill Press reaffirms what we all know is true: Donald Trump’s the worst president in American history.
“Here at home, he’s gutted the Affordable Care Act, overturned all environmental protection measures adopted under President Obama, praised white supremacists, started trade wars with China, Mexico, and Canada, and ripped children from their parents at the border.
“Overseas, he’s alienated our historic democratic allies, while befriending dictators Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, he’s trashed the Paris Accords and the Iran Nuclear Deal and has yet to condemn Russia for interfering in the 2016 presidential election. Enough is enough.”
Meanwhile, I am working on an incredible science narrative that could provide a roadmap for world peace, harmony and energy independence behind the years 2020 and 2021 with my new friend David Williams from Santa Barbara, California. I recently reported on his spiritual quest in coming to Washington.

But over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had some long talks about his higher mission as a chemist in ushering in the Tetron Era, based on his theory of the Tetron Natural Unified Field Theory.
It’s pretty complicated, so it will take some more time to work it all out and provide an understandable narrative.

Before you continue, I’d like to ask if you could support our independent journalism as we head into one of the most critical news periods of our time in 2024.
The New American Journal is deeply dedicated to uncovering the escalating threats to our democracy and holding those in power accountable. With a turbulent presidential race and the possibility of an even more extreme Trump presidency on the horizon, the need for independent, credible journalism that emphasizes the importance of the upcoming election for our nation and planet has never been greater.
However, a small group of billionaire owners control a significant portion of the information that reaches the public. We are different. We don’t have a billionaire owner or shareholders. Our journalism is created to serve the public interest, not to generate profit. Unlike much of the U.S. media, which often falls into the trap of false equivalence in the name of neutrality, we strive to highlight the lies of powerful individuals and institutions, showing how misinformation and demagoguery can harm democracy.
Our journalists provide context, investigate, and bring to light the critical stories of our time, from election integrity threats to the worsening climate crisis and complex international conflicts. As a news organization with a strong voice, we offer a unique, outsider perspective that is often missing in American media.
Thanks to our unique reader-supported model, you can access the New American journal without encountering a paywall. This is possible because of readers like you. Your support keeps us independent, free from external influences, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay for news.
Please help if you can.
American journalists need your help more than ever as forces amass against the free press and democracy itself. We must not let the crypto-fascists and the AI bots take over.
