Let us open with a song.
Oh, little Jeff Sessions
It’s a mystery how you made it this far
The devil messes with God’s best-laid plans
You prayed and gave the country Donald Trump
Then he dumped you in a Mobile trash heap
You get no spare change
It must feel mighty strange
To say so long for the last time
Bashed on Twitter by a prez you love
Your Cadillac’s got a wheel in the ditch
Your wheels are off the track
And the best thing is
You ain’t coming back
Oh Alabama
Don’t let Jeff Sessions come back
Jeff Sessions can’t come back
Loneliness is tough
The toughest role you ever played
And pain was the price you paid
Oh Alabama
Don’t let Jeff Sessions come back
Jeff Sessions can’t come back
The Big Picture –
By Glynn Wilson –
Oh how sweet it will be, to say so long to little Jefferson Beauregard “Jeffery” Sessions III for the final time. He has been a thorn in the side of American and Alabama politics for far too long.
According to the pundits and prognosticators, former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville will trounce Sessions in the Republican Party runoff for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Birmingham Democrat Doug Jones. The runoff election, originally set for March 31, was delayed until July 14 because of the novel coronavirus outbreak. In the March 3 Republican primary, Tuberville got 33.4 percent of the vote to Sessions’ 31.6 percent.
Since then, Sessions has failed to gain any traction in the race. He can’t get Tuberville to debate him. Nobody will knock up signs for him. So in recent days, he’s taken to going after President Donald Trump on Twitter, a strategy that he must know is doomed to fail. It’s the last gasp of a dying political hack.
Sessions responded to Trump’s recent comments on Twitter about him, defending his recusal from the Russia meddling investigation as Attorney General and telling the president he was “damn fortunate” for it.
“It protected the rule of law & resulted in your exoneration,” Sessions tweeted. “Your personal feelings don’t dictate who Alabama picks as their senator, the people of Alabama do.” Of course Trump responded.
.@realdonaldtrump Look, I know your anger, but recusal was required by law. I did my duty & you're damn fortunate I did. It protected the rule of law & resulted in your exoneration. Your personal feelings don't dictate who Alabama picks as their senator, the people of Alabama do. https://t.co/QQKHNAgmiE

3 years ago, after Jeff Sessions recused himself, the Fraudulent Mueller Scam began. Alabama, do not trust Jeff Sessions. He let our Country down. That’s why I endorsed Coach Tommy Tuberville (@TTuberville), the true supporter of our #MAGA agenda! https://t.co/pCi7jftce2 https://t.co/sAn1VbxNwc

Tuberville tried to capitalize on the tweet fight (what an odd thing, right?).
3 years ago today @JeffSessions threw @realDonaldTrump to the wolves with the Mueller appointment. When faced with supporting POTUS or running scared, Jeff Sessions chose the easy way out and recused himself. I won't ever run from a fight in the U.S. Senate. pic.twitter.com/xM4Z5c7OCb

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Parting is such sweet sorrow, not, that I’ll say good night, until tonight becomes tomorrow, and we have to consider you no more.
Decent polling numbers are hard to come by these days, but one going around now is a poll conducted May 7-10 by the firm Cygnal. It shows Tuberville leading Sessions by more than 20 percentage points.
The survey of 607 likely Republican voters showed 55.1 percent probably or definitely favoring Tuberville, to 31.8 percent probably or definitely favoring Sessions. The raw numbers show 36.5 percent definitely favored Tuberville, and only 19.4 percent definitely favored Sessions.
Cygnal CEO Brent Buchanan claims the polling firm paid for the survey and is not involved with either candidate or any outside group in the race. He said the poll was conducted with live phone calls, text messages and by email, and the margin of error is plus or minus 3.98 percent.
The winner will face Democrat Doug Jones in the election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Revenge is Sweet
“Revenge is a dish best served cold,” or so said Ricardo Montalbán as Khan Noonien Singh in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”
It’s just a tad sad that the revenge had to be served up by the worst president ever, and that Sessions is partly responsible for helping him win the Republican nomination and get elected in the first place.
If there is a hell, no doubt they may both one day rot away in it. If there were any justice in nature in the universe, the coronavirus would take them both out, painfully. Alas, nature is malevolent. She doesn’t care.
But if it takes Trump’s vicious attacks to get rid of you, so be it.
There is no way Trump supporters in Alabama are going to show up to the polls to vote for Sessions. And Trump supporting Republicans in Alabama outnumber the reasonable chamber of commerce types probably two to one.
A few of my favorite things, I mean quotes.
Trump has called Sessions a “Dumb Southerner,” who was never mentally or otherwise qualified for the job as Attorney General, as well as “a disaster,” and even recently, “delusional.”
President Donald Trump on Sunday ramped up his ongoing feud with former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, claiming Sessions wasn’t “mentally qualified” for the job.
During an interview on “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson,” Trump called Sessions, who he handpicked for the 2017 appointment, a “disaster” who was never qualified for the role of attorney general.
“He’s not mentally qualified to be Attorney General,” Trump said. “He was the biggest problem. I mean, look Jeff Sessions put people in place that were a disaster.”
Trump campaign calls Sessions ‘delusional’ in letter
Trump says he nominated Sessions as attorney general even though he wasn’t ‘equipped’ for the job
Also recently, Trump’s campaign sent a letter to Sessions, objecting to Sessions’ portrayal of himself as a Trump supporter in a campaign mailer.
The March 31 letter sent by Michael S. Glassner, chief operating officer of Donald J. Trump for President, accused Sessions of attempting to “misleadingly promote your connections to and ‘support’ of Trump,” in the campaign mailer that mentioned Trump’s name 22 times.
“The letter even makes the delusional assertion that you are President ‘Trump’s #1 Supporter,’” Glassner wrote.
“We only assume your campaign is doing this to confuse President Trump’s loyal supporters in Alabama into believing the President supports your candidacy in the upcoming primary run-off election. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Glassner wrote.
Before becoming attorney general, Sessions was the first U.S. senator to endorse Trump, donning a Make America Great Again baseball cap at an Alabama rally.
But in a political twist of irony, his public falling out with Trump has threatened to upend his hopes of recapturing his former seat.
Sessions relinquished the Senate seat from Alabama he held for 20 years when he was appointed Trump’s attorney general, a position he was forced to resign after his 2017 recusal from the Russia inquiry sparked blistering criticism from Trump. Sessions is now seeking to return to the seat.
The letter from the Trump campaign read: “We want to be absolutely clear about it: President Trump and the Trump Campaign unambiguously endorse Tommy Tuberville.” The letter was first reported by The New York Times.
According to the Sessions campaign, the mailer in question that drew the objections of the Trump campaign, was sent several days before Trump made his March 10 endorsement of Tuberville.

A Letter From Coretta Scott King
Or the letter Coretta Scott King wrote opposing Sessions’ appointment to a federal judgeship back in the 1980s, which should have ended his political career back when.

Re: Nomination of Jefferson B. Sessions
U.S. Judge, southern/District of
Alabama Hearing, March 13, 1986
Dear Senator Thurmond:
I write to express my sincere opposition to the confirmation of Jefferson B. Sessions as a federal district
court judge for the Southern District of Alabama. My professional and personal roots in Alabama are deep and lasting. Anyone who has used the power of his office as United States Attorney to intimidate and chill the free exercise of the ballot by citizens should not be elevated to our courts.
Mr. Sessions has used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters. For this reprehensible conduct, he should not be rewarded with a federal judgeship.
I regret that a long-standing commitment prevents me from appearing in person to testify against this nominee. However, I have attached a copy of my statement opposing Mr. Sessions’ confirmation and I request that my statement as well as this letter be made a part of the?hearing record.
I do sincerely urge you to oppose the confirmation of Mr. Sessions.
Sincerely,
Coretta Scott King

I am fearful our institutional racist mindset, masked by so-called religion and patriotism, will have too much influence in the general election. Sadly, in my own family those as old as I, and older, can be heard muttering displeasure of Doug because he “sides with THE NEGROES”-apparently there are still two sides here in the wannabe 1860s South-ah, where is 12 Oaks Plantation when you need it? At least Jeff “kept THOSE PEOPLE in ‘their place’ as well as putting immigrant children in CAGES” an act, I am sure, Jesus spoke approvingly to him about! At some point in time we must confront the racist “elephant” in the room and realize when we meet the enemy, we may be shocked to find out the enemy is ourselves!
