Uncle Joe Declared President-Elect: Trump Refuses to Concede –
How Will the Courts React? –

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The long national Trump nightmare is almost over.
After an excruciating three days and nights of waiting on the results from Election 2020, the mail-in ballots have finally been counted in most key battleground states and the American press just declared Joe Biden president-elect.
With the results reporting Saturday morning from Pennsylvania showing Biden leading Trump by 34,414 votes, 3,345,724 to 3,311,310 or 49.6 to 49.1 percent, news outlets began to break at about 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time and call Joe Biden the winner and Trump the loser.

With Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes, Biden is up 279 to 214, more than the 270 he needed to win.
“You’re fired,” a majority of the electorate says in a collective sigh of relief.
Biden is also up in Arizona by 143,590 votes, in Nevada by 25,699 votes, and in Georgia by 7,248 votes, so he may sweep all those states as well, leaving North Carolina as the last state expected to report next week. As I was writing this, the Associated Press called Nevada for Biden.
Reportedly Trump got the news about losing while playing golf in Virginia, and as of Saturday morning, he was still making noises about challenging the results in court. His legal team has already asked for a recount in Wisconsin and Georgia, but legal sources say he may not have a legal leg to stand on, even with the United States Supreme Court, where he appeared to expect the conservative justices he appointed to save him.
Of course Trump still has 75 days to remain hunkered down in the White House, and there’s no telling what damage he will try to wreak on the country.
Shouts of joy and car horns interrupted the morning quiet on a fine fall day in the district, with the high expected to be 75 with sunny skies and a low tonight in the upper 40s.
A spontaneous party broke out around the White House, NPR called the mood “jubilant” and the crowds were growing to make sure Trump will not try to hold onto power.
The People for the American Way held a #VotersDecided rally beginning at 11 a.m.
“People from across the city will come together to celebrate the values that underpin our democracy,” the group said on Facebook, “ensuring every vote counts and putting power in the hands of the people.”
It’s part of the National Day of Action mobilizing millions across the country.
President-Elect Biden is expected to address the nation at 8 p.m.
No word on whether Trump won or lost at golf, but he lost at the ballot box.

The New American Journal is deeply dedicated to uncovering the escalating threats to our democracy and holding those in power accountable. With a turbulent presidential race and the possibility of an even more extreme Trump presidency on the horizon, the need for independent, credible journalism that emphasizes the importance of the upcoming election for our nation and planet has never been greater.
However, a small group of billionaire owners control a significant portion of the information that reaches the public. We are different. We don’t have a billionaire owner or shareholders. Our journalism is created to serve the public interest, not to generate profit. Unlike much of the U.S. media, which often falls into the trap of false equivalence in the name of neutrality, we strive to highlight the lies of powerful individuals and institutions, showing how misinformation and demagoguery can harm democracy.
Our journalists provide context, investigate, and bring to light the critical stories of our time, from election integrity threats to the worsening climate crisis and complex international conflicts. As a news organization with a strong voice, we offer a unique, outsider perspective that is often missing in American media.
